Thursday Oct 14th • Farmer Dinner at Foreign Cinema • 6PM
Enjoy a quintessential San Francisco dining experience at the acclaimed Foreign Cinema restaurant in the heart of the bustling Mission District. Esteemed Chefs Gayle Pirie and John Clark, formerly of Zuni Cafe and Chez Panisse, will feature an all local, “a la carte” menu celebrating the flavors of Marin County and an incredible line-up of Marin Organic member farmers, ranchers and cheesemakers.

Friday Oct 15th • Drink for a Cause • 6PM
Drink for a Cause will be raising money for the Susan G. Komen Fund for Breast Cancer Research at a new DFAC venue: Temple! So many of us have been impacted in our personal lives by someone with breast cancer. Please help us support research to help find a cure. As usual we’ll be collecting $5 minimum donations at the door and a portion of the bar tab will be donated as well…so invite friends and drink up! Sat-Sun Oct 16-17th • Treasure Island Music Festival • Ongoing
Treasure Island returns for its 4th year. 2 days of the best up-and-coming music around. With the days divided between electronic and indie-rock, there’s something for everyone. Set on picturesque Treasure Island, there are 2 stages that alternate between sets so you don’t have to miss a note. While you’re there, enjoy the photo booth, art exhibits, retailers, local food vendors, Ferris wheel, and many other non-music related activities.

Saturday Oct 16th • Mouthwatering Mission Tour • Ongoing
Bring your appetite and a bottle of water and meet Lisa at Mission Pie (2901 Mission St. @25th) for the first half of the event - an exciting culinary tour of the Mission. Experience authentic tacos from El Farolito, Humphry Slocombe’s award-winning ice cream, hand held savory pies delivered by Bike Basket Pies, and freshly baked mini cupcakes from Mission Minis. You’ll take a guided mural tour led by a docent from Precita Eyes and stop into La Palma Foods, a Mexican market where you’ll see some of the ingredients you’ll later learn to cook with.

Saturday Oct 16th • Help A Brother Out• 11-3PM & 6-10PM
Mandy Harper of Wholesome Bakery has organized a bakesale and street food party to raise money to help her brother Nick recover from brain cancer. The afternoon bakesale lineup includes Mission Minis, Fat Bottom Bakery, Bike Basket Pies, Sour Flour, MaliNumNum, and El Porteno. The Street Party lineup includes Soul Cocina, Dezy’s Drinks, Sataysfied, Slow Jams, Pizzahacker, Hapa SF, Gumbo Cart, Adobo Hobo, and Smitten Ice Cream.

Sunday Oct 17th • Pasture and Orchard Tour • 9AM
CUESA is hosting a tour of Glashoff Farms in Fairfield and Shelly’s Garden in Brentwood. It will be the peak of walnut season, and Maria Glashoff will show us how the nuts are harvested, hulled, and dried. We’ll also get a glimpse of the berry vines, the orange, prune and persimmon orchards, and the beef cattle the Glashoffs raise for the family. Shelly McMahon, a new seller in the Tuesday market, will introduce us to her 1,200 pastured laying hens. We’ll learn how small, humane operations like Shelly’s are worlds apart from the factory farms involved in the Salmonella recall. The tour costs $25, including lunch made with farmers market ingredients and round trip transportation from the Ferry Building. Reserve a spot today.

Sunday Oct 17th • Spice of Life Festival • 10AM
Get a taste of North Berkeley at the 8th Annual Spice of Life Festival! This five-block long food and art fair celebrates the spice of life with cooking demos by local chefs, wine tasting and micro-brews, live music presented by the Berkeley Jazz School and Freight & Salvage, artist exhibitions and an interactive nature sculpture project, yoga and bodywork demonstrations, an Ecology Center farmers market, an eco-themed puppet show and eco-carnival games, and lots of kids activities. Street food trucks and pop-up vendors shaking up the Bay Area culinary scene will join old-school food revolutionaries and neighborhood restaurant favorites and chefs.

Wednesday Oct 20th • Pop-Up General Store • 5-7PM
Founded by Christopher Lee and Samin Nosrat, Pop-Up General Store is a group of professional cooks and artisans {nearly all of them are current or former Chez Panisse cooks} making the foods they love to eat. Pre-order and pay for your items, then come visit our pop-up location in the historic Temescal streetcar depot that houses Grace Street Catering. We’ll be there next Wednesday, October 20th from 5pm to 7pm awaiting your arrival! We’ll have lots of extras for sale, so feel free to pop in even if you don’t place an order!
