I’m Nimisha Ambati, a sustainable food lover and cooking aficionado living in San Francisco. Graduating with a B.S. in Psychobiology from UCLA, working in clinical research at UCLA and Baylor College of Medicine, and becoming a certified Ayurvedic practitioner, my passion is health. I am currently studying Holistic Nutrition at Bauman College in Berkeley, CA. I also spend a few hours each week volunteering at Mission High School’s Nutrition and Leadership program and school garden, and CUESA.
Our lifestyle choices make the biggest impact on our health and food is the most powerful factor in our overall well-being. Proper eating habits can prevent, ease, and cure our health issues. I look at food from the elements of each ingredient, to how it affects our mind and body, to how it satisfies our soul and palate. Incorporating the ancient wisdom of seasonality, relationships, fitness and diet into my daily routine, I strive to follow a modern Ayurvedic lifestyle and hope to impart some of that wisdom to my readers.
Being healthy is not only about what you eat or how much you workout, but also about keeping the environment around you healthy. This could mean going completely green, simply reducing your use of plastic, walking/cycling to the post office, or using water-based nail polish. Health is the balanced and dynamic integration between our environment, body, mind, and spirit. My focus is to increase awareness about holistic health, food policies, and environmental issues.
I, also, love to be around people and socialize. What’s better than socializing around good food, drinks, and/or the scenic outdoors?! Thus, came the birth of Club Dine In! in 2010, a lifestyle community for people who love to socialize around food and still strive to be on the path of wellness. Club Dine In! hosts events such as happy “foodie” hours, hikes for picnics, nutrition and health discussions, and bi-quarterly cookbook clubs in San Francisco.
